I have been interested in botanic art for some time now, but really came to love grape vines after spending some time working with them, helping friends with pruning and harvesting.
As well as being an artist I am a very keen gardener, so that working with the grape vines, learning about their growth stages, and appreciating their grace and beauty as plants was a very rewarding experience for me. Added to that, at the end of the day’s work there is a lovely glass of wine to top it off.
I am now compiling my collection of paintings of wine grapes into a folio. Three paintings are done so far and another seven will be ready next year. I’m not sure how many the collection will eventually comprise. We’ll have to wait and see.
The ‘Gift of the Grape exhibition’ is my first venture into a small solo show, so I hope people will find it interesting and enjoy looking at the art works.
